Individuals strive for what they think is desirable, and markets transmit this striving as exchange and trade that benefits many. The unlimited variety of human gifts and skills is orchestrated by markets even though all the members of society who benefit are unaware of most individuals’ contributions.
The unknown ideal, the ultimate solution to social domination, and its horrid extreme – slavery, is the self-evident morality of capitalism. It is the socioeconomic system that bans force from all voluntary, human interaction. Free markets are rooted in rational self-interest, its foundation is the morally derived principle of rights, and their axiomatic truth is in the primacy of existence.
If “knowledge and objective truth were open to all men” (Locke’s epistemology in Chapter 1), and error naturally flees when “reason and experiment have been indulged,” (Jefferson in Chapter 2), then any despot’s grip on political power is no stronger than the weak minds that sanction their own victimhood!
Much of today’s political class sees businesses as sources of funds to be drained to serve leftist purposes. This is plainly unsustainable. As British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher famously said, “the trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money” because no wealth is produced, only transferred.
